Teen Killed in Wednesday Shooting in Aurora
An 18-year-old man is dead following a shooting Wednesday night in the 200 block of North Smith Street in Aurora, according to Aurora police.
Aurora police are looking for the shooter who they said pulled up to a home on North Smith street and opened fire on the 18-year-old man and a 31-year-old man while they sat on the front porch about 7:10 p.m., according to an Aurora Police Department press release. The shooting, police said, does not appear to be random.
The 18-year-old man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of his family, was taken to an Aurora hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:43 p.m., according to the news release. The 31-year-old man was in stable condition at a different Aurora hospital.
The shooter, who is described as a light-skinned Hispanic male between the age of 16 and 20 years old, fled the scene on foot, running west on Claim Street and the vehicle, which is described as cream-colored, four-door vehicle, headed south on Smith Street following the shooting, according to the news release.
Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora Police investigators at 630-256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at630-892-1000. Callers to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5000 for information that leads to any arrests.
