Man Dies After Being Hit By Pickup Truck in Southern Kane County

This is the third fatal car crash in Kane County over a 10-day period.

Update: Police say Craig was involved in another traffic crash less than two hours before the Jericho Road crash.

A 54-year-old Aurora man died after being struck by a pickup truck on Monday night in Southern Kane County, according to police.

Dean Craig was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash, which took place on Jericho Road between Dugan and Ashe roads in unincorporated Sugar Grove Township. The crash occurred at 7:40 p.m., the Kane County Sheriff's Office said.

According to an initial investigation, a Toyota Tundra pickup was traveling east on Jericho Road when it struck a pedestrian, who was identified by police as Craig. He was walking east on Jericho Road at the time of the crash, the Sheriff's Office said.

The driver and sole occupant of the truck was 25-year-old Joseph Morgan of Plano, according to police. Morgan was uninjured in the crash.

Jericho Road was closed between Ashe and Dugan roads for about three hours Monday night so the Sheriff's Office could investigate the crash. Jericho Road is a country road with no lighting and a 55 mph speed limit.

Further information on this crash was not immediately available late Monday evening.

The crash remains under investigation by members of the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team
