Some Retail Thefts in Batavia Caught on Video Cameras
The following information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Video cameras were responsible for helping to catch a few retail thefts in action, according to information provided in the Batavia Police Department “Daily Report Synopsis, Media/Public Version.”
Pantry Video Leads to Reimbursement
Files were not charged, but a suspect who “strongly resembles the subject (who) is on the pantry video camera” was asked to reimburse the owner of Batavia Pantry, 929 E. Wilson St., after the theft of four electronic cigarettes with a total value of $28. The owner also asked that the offender be banned from the pantry, according to the report filed at 7:52 p.m. Oct. 5.
24 Cans in a Beer Case
Two cases of beer were taken from the Wal-Mart at 801 N. Randall Road, according to a report filed at 3:59 a.m. Sept. 29. The beer was valued at $27.94.

70- and 68-Year-Olds Taken Into Custody
Police took two people into custody after a retail theft was reported at Wal-Mart, 801 N. Randall Road, according to a report at 6:36 a.m. Sept. 28. Lynn G. Depenbrok, 70, and Patricia Ann McGue, 68, both of the same Batavia address, “were observed removing grocery and sundry items from the store,” reports said.

Golden Coralled
A retail theft was reported at Golden Corral, 2030 Main St., at 12:10 p.m. Sept. 25. No further information was provided.
Kohl's Theft Reported
A retail theft was reported at 11:37 a.m. Oct. 5 at Kohl’s, 251 N. Randall Road. The report was incomplete and provided no additional information.
