REPORTS: Death in Batavia Monday Might Be Tied to Bike Accident

Police assure the public that the Fox River Trail is safe. The body of a 46-year-old man was discovered near the river on Monday.

Police no longer consider foul play to be involved in the death of a 46-year-old Aurora man whose body was found in Batavia on Monday.

Instead continue to investigate Brett Straight's death as a possible bicycle accident, the Kane County Chronicle reports.

Police are fairly confident that the incident was not a homicide, according to the Chronicle's story.

No gunshot wound or firearm caused the death of the victim, Glenn Autenrieth, a Batavia deputy police chief, told the Daily Herald.

There were no weapons found in the area where Straight was discovered, but there was a bicycle, the Aurora Beacon-News reports.

The public is not in any danger, the Herald's story said.

Straight was a resident in the Master’s Touch Ministry program at Wayside Cross Ministries in Aurora. Participants enter the Bible-based program to overcome substance abuse or other negative behavior, said Randy Tomassi, the program’s director.
