REPORT: Father of BHS Student Lynlee Gilbert Talks Speed Limit Change

Jeff Gilbert said it is difficult for vehicles to stay on Green Road in Blackberry Township at the posted speed. Gilbert's daughter Lyn lost her life after veering off that road in a May 16 crash.

The speed limit on a road where a student lost her life could change soon, according to media reports.

The Transportation Committee of the Kane County Board on Tuesday recommended the speed on Green Road between Hughes and Main Street roads be lowered from 50 mph to 40 mph, the Kane County Chronicle reports.

The area of Green Road near Clover Hill Lane was the site of a that involved two Batavia High School seniors. The crash happened in Blackberry Township west of Batavia.

The crash resulted in the death of driver and critically injured her passenger, friend and fellow senior . Ginter has since recovered and and rehabilitation.

Lyn's father, Jeff Gilbert, spoke to the Transportation Committee on Tuesday morning. Jeff Gilbert said it is difficult for vehicles to stay on Green Road in Blackberry Township at the posted speed of 50 mph, according to the Chronicle's story.

A study by the county reported that 85 percent of drivers take the turns on Green Road at 43 mph, the Daily Herald reports.

Lyn Gilbert's vehicle was traveling at about 68 mph at the time of the crash, according to . The Sheriff's Office findings cite speed and driver inexperience as the primary factors for the crash.

Lyn's friends and family say who always made sure everyone's seatbelts were fastened.
