Here's a round-up of recent, bizarre police report items from the area.

ST. CHARLES

Drunk and In Danger

Joseph M. Montes, 22, of the 1400 block of Exeter Lane, South Elgin, was cited at 1:06 a.m. April 7 on the 1000 block of North 2nd Street (Route 31) with disorderly conduct-public drunkenness. The officer found Montes, with his T-shirt off and tucked in his pants, staggering in the middle of the roadway at Ferson Creek Park. The officer noted there is no illumination of Route 31 at that point and that Montes had placed himself in potentially significant danger.

Not Going Quietly

Police were dispatched at 7:22 p.m. April 7 to investigate a domestic situation in which a teen was being verbally abusive on the 900 block of South Monroe Street. While investigating the complaint, the teen struck a police officer with her fist. She also resisted arrest and kicked an assisting officer, according to police. The teen was released and referred to a juvenile officer.

Love Hurts

A man on April 9 approached a 22-year-old man and struck him after finding out that he kissed his girlfriend near Washington Street and West Jefferson Avenue, police said.

And He's Off

A 3-foot-tall cement jockey statue with an electrical lantern was stolen April 8 from the front porch of a home in the 1000 block of East Hillside Road, police said.

WHEATON

Bathroom Quickie

A store employee on the 1600 block of North Main reported a cell phone theft at 5:26 p.m. April 1. Just a few minutes before, a woman entered the store and asked the employee if she could look at a cell phone. The employee retrieved a $100 phone from behind the secured counter and handed it to the woman, who then went to the washroom. The woman then exited the store without paying for the phone, leaving the box inside the washroom.

BURR RIDGE

Several employees at 2:17 p.m. March 28 were involved in a verbal dispute on the 7700 block of Grant Street. Management stated they were aware of the situation and working with the employees. No complaints were signed.

Just a Dad

Someone at 6:40 p.m. March 27 reported a suspicious vehicle on the 6800 block of Fieldstone Drive. The driver of the vehicle was actually waiting to pick up his daughter at a friend’s house. There was no criminal activity, police said.

DOWNERS GROVE

Heavy Theft

A resident at 11:45 a.m. March 29 said that someone took a three-foot wood carving of an eagle from his front yard on the 4700 block of Cumnor Road. The incident occurred sometime between 7:30 p.m. March 28 and 9 a.m. March 29. The carving was located on the southeast corner of his home, weighed about 100 lbs. and is valued at $500. There were no suspects or leads at the time of the report.

BATAVIA

Getting a Workout

Two subjects became involved in a verbal and physical confrontation in the XSport Fitness parking lot, 81 N. Randall Road, around 7 p.m. April 1. Medics treated one subject at the scene but no charges were pursued.

GENEVA

Don't Yell in Grandma's Bedroom

Geneva police arrested Allen Murrell, 26, of Geneva on charges of simple assault at around 7:33 a.m. March 24 in the 700 block of Westfield Course, reports said. According to a complaint in the 16th Judicial Court, Murrell knowingly followed the complainant into his elderly grandmother’s bedroom and yelled at the complainant in close proximity, "causing reasonable apprehension of receiving battery."
