OMG PD: Drunken Stupor, Texting Driver, Sculpture Theft

Here's a round-up of recent and bizarre police report items from the area.

ST. CHARLES

Police: She Was "Very Drunk"

Brenna A. Ingersol, 22, of the 300 block of South 3rd Street, was cited at 1:47 a.m. Nov. 25 at West Main and North 3rd streets with disorderly conduct/public drunkenness. Police said the woman was nearly struck by a vehicle when she started to cross the intersection against the light. Police described her as very drunk, but she would not tell officers where she was drinking, according to the report, because she did not want to get the bars in trouble.

Texting Tied to Car Crash

William Lee Rawson, 20, of the 1500 block of Avalon Court, was charged at 11 a.m. Nov. 25 with hit and run, and texting while driving. According to police, an officer saw Rawson at 8:44 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, returning to the driver’s seat from outside a Pontiac Grand Prix pulled over on the 1000 block of Oak Street. The officer saw the windshield was smashed and followed Rawson to his workplace, where Rawson was issued a written warning for the broken windshield.

The officer also knew there had been a hit-and-run accident at 5:23 a.m. that day at 1724 Division St., where a mailbox had been struck by a vehicle. Bark found on the car was consistent, police said, with the hit-and-run accident to the mailbox. When the officer confronted Rawson about the evidence, he told police he struck the mailbox while he was texting and driving. Because Rawson was the only employee working, officers allowed him to finish his shift. Rawson turned himself in at the St. Charles Police Department on Sunday morning. He was released on his own recognizance pending a Jan. 13, 2013 court appearance.
