Police: Teen Dies After Being Struck By Car in West Chicago

The male driver of the car returned to the scene, police said.

A 16-year-old girl died after being struck by a car in West Chicago Friday, according to police and media reports.

The girl was hit near the intersection of Route 59 and Pine Street in West Chicago, a press release said. The West Chicago police department and fire protection district responded to the incident at about 9:11 p.m. Friday, March 9.

The girl is from West Chicago and was identified by the DuPage County coroner’s office, the Daily Herald reports. The teen was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

The man who drove the vehicle involved in the incident returned to the scene after realizing the damage to his car was possibly the result of a collision with a person, the release said.

Police did not release the driver’s identity or mention any charges at this time, according to the Herald’s story.
