Police: Slippery Roads Causing Accidents Friday

Police Advisory: Some area roadways have become slippery due to freezing rain, particularly hills and bridges. Use caution.

Geneva police sent an advisory Friday morning warning motorists of multiple accidents and slick roads where some vehicles are unable to get up hills. Obviously, the same conditions are going to apply to Batavia.

Here's the message, in full:

Due to some light freezing rain, area roadways, particularly hills, bridges, and lightly traveled roadways, have become slippery.

The Geneva Police Department has responded to some minor accidents throughout the city and reports of vehicles unable to make it up hills, primarily on the east side of town.

Please drive slowly, allow extra time for travel, and maintain a safe distance from vehicles in front of you. The city is salting the roadways at this time. However, use caution.
