Police Seek Public's Help Finding Missing 68-Year-Old Batavia Man

Batavia police are asking for the public's help in finding a 68-year-old man with mental disabilities who got on a train in Champaign but did not get off when his family went to pick him up Monday at at the station in Aurora/Naperville.

Peter A. Maloney of Batavia was last seen boarding an Amtrak train in Champaign at around 10:14 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2. The train was due at Chicago's Union Station, and Maloney was then to board a Metra commuter train to the Route 59 Metra Station, 1090 Aurora Ave.

Maloney is described as a white male, 5-foot-4, 113 pound, with brown hair and hazel eyes, wearing gold-rimmed eye glasses. He was last seen wearing a Chicago Bears stocking hat, orange Illini sweatshirt, brown "Dickies brand" hooded jacket, blue jeans and black winter boots.

Police are concerned that Maloney might have gotten of either the Amtrak train before it reached Chicago or the Metra train before it arrived at the Route 59 station in Aurora.

Maloney frequents coffee shops and smokes cigarettes. His family describes him as shy and would not likely approach anyone seeking help.
