The incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, a couple blocks south of the Aurora University campus.

The victim, a 19-year-old male, was walking in the area when a vehicle approached him and stopped. After the vehicle stopped, two subjects exited the vehicle and one of them pointed a gun at the victim and demanded he empty his pockets.

The victim gave the subjects his cell phone. Then the victims left the area.

The North Aurora Stop

About three hours after the Oct. 16 robbery, Aurora and North Aurora police units stopped a vehicle near Randall Road and Oak Street in North Aurora.

The stopped vehicle matched the description of the robbery vehicle, which was described as a dark green SUV by Lt. Pat Gengler to Batavia Patch.

As a result of the traffic stop, three subjects were taken into custody by Aurora Police. They are:

  • Ricardo Juarez, 17, 112 McDowell, Naperville
  • Gerardo Juarez, 18, 111 W. Blair St., West Chicago
  • Marco Morales, 17, 1223 North Ave., West Chicago

The Kane County State's Attorney's Office authorized one class X count of armed robbery against the three teens. Bond was set late Wednesday.

The charges against the three subjects are not a proof of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the state’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

One of the suspects named in Friday's home invasion (not the robbery) was described as being in his 20s. He and another suspect got away in a dark or dark blue colored SUV. To read more about the home invasion, click .
