POLICE: Kirk Road Crash Victims Are Batavia Couple

The man that died and the woman that was airlifted after a Saturday crash on Kirk Road are a couple from Batavia's west side, officials said on Monday.

on Monday afternoon identified the man who died and the woman who was airlifted to treatment after a Saturday as a married couple.

The 48-year-old person who died, originally identified as a St. Charles resident, is actually Thomas A. Anderson of Batavia.

Anderson's passenger in the crash was initially identified as a 40-year-old from Batavia. Police say she is Julia Blanquet.

"The couple uses separate last names but the information developed in this investigation is that they are married," a Batavia Police press release said.

Anderson was initially described as a St. Charles resident using his identification, said James Dixon, Batavia deputy police chief. Anderson previously lived in St. Charles before moving to Batavia.

"He just hadn't had his driver’s license changed," Dixon said.

Anderson was travelling northbound on Kirk Road Saturday and reportedly crossed the center line into the southbound lanes. This led to a head-on collision involving three other vehicles. The crash site was on Kirk Road about 700 ft. north of Wind Energy Pass, according to police.

Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash.

Blanquet was a passenger in Anderson's vehicle. She was airlifted to in Downers Grove, where she was listed in critical condition on Monday.

The couple live on Batavia's west side, according to the press release.

for more than three hours Saturday as emergency crews, including the , responded to the crash.

Four other patients were treated on scene or transported and later released, according to the fire department.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
