Police: Home Invasion Suspects Likely On Block Beforehand, Fled Via Route 31

Investigators want any and all tips that may lead to the suspects. At least one of them entered a home and bound a woman with duct tape on Oct. 14.

North Aurora police on Monday released a flyer in the hopes of gathering more tips about those involved in a home invasion late last week.

The flyer recaps the time and location of the home invasion, as well as the completed by police.

At least one suspect entered a home on the 100 block of Elm Avenue with a handgun at about 8:50 a.m. on Friday. The suspect , bound her with duct tape and took a gold necklace she was wearing. The suspect left shortly after 9 a.m, according to the flyer.

It's likely the suspects were on the block prior to the actual home invasion and that someone saw them, police said.

Investigators said the suspects fled the area via Lincolnway (Route 31). The suspect who entered the home was likely joined by another suspect in a large dark or dark blue sport utility vehicle, such as a Chevy Suburban, Tahoe, Cadillac Escalade or similar vehicle.

Police said the suspect who entered the home matched this description:

  • Short white male
  • Late teens or early 20s
  • Wearing a dark-colored hooded jacket and sunglasses

Location of Invasion

Elm Avenue is located right off of Lincolnway, or Route 31, in North Aurora. It is on the west side of Route 31.

Elm Avenue is a dead-end street—motorists can only enter and exit off of Route 31. The street directly south of it, Maple Avenue, also dead-ends to the west.

Elm Avenue is across the street from the River Oaks Apartment complex.
