Police: Home Invasion Reported Near Route 31, Woman Sustains Injuries

An unknown suspect entered a home, knocked a woman to the ground, and bound her arms and legs, according to police.

The North Aurora Police Department is in search of two suspects who were reportedly part of a home invasion on Friday morning.

At least one of the suspects entered a home on the 100 block of Elm Avenue and attacked a 44-year-old woman. The invasion happened at about 8:50 a.m. Friday, said North Aurora Lt. Scott Buziecki.

The woman was in her home when one of the suspects, labeled by police as Suspect 1, entered through an unlocked door and displayed a handgun. During a struggle with the suspect, the woman was struck several times in the head and knocked to the floor, according to a press release.

The suspects bound her hands, legs and covered her eyes, all with duct tape. One of the suspects removed a gold necklace she was wearing, according to the release.

At this time, it is unknown if anything else was stolen.

Woman Escapes, Found By Police

Suspect 1 left a short time later. The woman freed her legs from the tape and ran for help.

At about 9:16 a.m. on Friday a North Aurora patrol officer was in the area of the 100 block of north Lincolnway, or Route 31, when he was flagged down by someone. The person told the officer there was a woman at Lincolnway and Elm Avenue that was injured.

Police found the woman with her hands bound behind her back with duct tape.

The victim, who was not sexually assaulted or abused, had non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to Provena Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora by a North Aurora Fire Department ambulance.

Suspect Description

Suspect 1 was described as the following:

  • short white male
  • late teens or early 20s
  • wearing a dark colored jacket with a hood and sunglasses.

Suspect 2’s description is unknown.

The suspects may be driving a dark blue large SUV, such as a Suburban, Tahoe, or Escalade.
