Police Find Woman Who Approached 2 Boys; Turns Out To Be Misunderstanding

Kudos to the Geneva Police Department and the public for helping to identify the person who approached two young boys on Saturday.

As a result of the previously-released  press release requesting information about a subject who had approached two juveniles on Aug. 11, 2012, the officers were able to identify the subject.

"It has been determined that the subject was not attempting to abduct the juveniles; rather, it was a misunderstood gesture of goodwill," the Police Department said in a Tuesday afternoon press release.

The subject contacted the Police Department and explained the circumstances, and officers were able to confirm the subject’s account of the incident.

The followed a report of a suspicious incident in the 300 block of Campbell Street. According to reports, two brothers, ages 8 and 10, were approached by a woman exiting a business in that area who invited the boys to see a dog in the back of her SUV. The boys declined and told their parents, who then contacted police.

If you have any tips or information for the Geneva Police Department, contact Cmdr. Julie Nash at jnash@geneva.il.us or 630-232-4736.

Isn't it a shame that in this day and age you can't even be nice to someone without being considered a predator.

I've seen this occur a few times. Granted, I'd prefer the police look something over to ensure it's okay than to have several local children be kidnapped. Agreed though, it is sad that one has to be careful about being overly nice in our society.

Ok, so what was this lady's explanation? how did the police verify it? This article doesn't shed any light on what happened.

No it doesn't shed any light at all.

Well, morons, I think it's safe to assume that the woman actually had a dog in her trunk and asked the boys if they wanted to see it because she... Wait for it... Thought the boys might want to see the dog!!!
