Batavia Police Blotter: Battery Incident, Children Left Alone, Fake ID

Police: Female Pushed, Scratched

A 26-year-old Aurora man is headed to court after an incident on Batavia's west side.

Cole R. White, of the 2300 block of Sunshine Lane, had a verbal dispute that turned physical with a female, police said. Police responded to the incident at 12:53 a.m., according to a police report.

The female was grabbed and pushed to the ground. The female also had scratches on her neck, chest and bruising on her wrist, the report said.

White was taken into custody and charged with battery—bodily harm and battery—insulting and provoking contact. He was transported to the Kane County Jail for morning bond call.

Children Left Alone

An officer responded to Main and Water streets at 10:53 a.m. for a report of a young child with down syndrome riding a bike alone. The girl, age 6, was found sitting on the sidewalk.

The girl was returned to her mother, who admitted to leaving the child in the custody of her 10-year-old son, according to a police report. The Department of Children and Family Services was contacted.

Further information on this incident was not available.

Infant Seizure

Police assisted paramedics in the parking lot of Batavia High School, 1201 Main St., at 4:41 p.m., with a 2-year-old boy who had a seizure, according to a police report.

The boy was transported to Delnor. His condition was not included in the report.

Traffic Arrest, Then Jail Time

A 29-year-old West Chicago man was taken to jail after an incident on Batavia's west side.

Angel Bahena, of the 600 block of Blakely Street, was observed disobeying a stop sign at North Avenue and Blackhawk Drive, police said. Also, he had an expired expiration sticker, according to a police report. The incident occurred at 8:50 p.m.

Once stopped, police determined Bahena did not have a valid driver's license or insurance. Bahena also provided a fraudulent ID card, the report said.

Bahena was charged with the following:

  • Disobeying a stop sign
  • Expired vehicle registration
  • Operating an uninsured vehicle
  • No valid driver's license

The Kane County State's Attorney's Office also authorized the following charges:

  • One felony count for unlawful possession of a fraudulent ID card
  • One misdemeanor charge of obstructing identification

Bahena was transferred to the Kane County Jail for morning bond call.
