UPDATE: Batavia Man's 911 'Prank' About Gunman Sighting Gets Felony Charge

The 19-year-old told police on May 3 there was a man with a gun on the west side.

A 19-year-old Batavia man received felony charges for apparently calling 911 on himself, saying that someone that looked like him had a gun on the west side, according to .

Mychal A. Escamilla, of 211 Lake St., was charged with Disorderly Conduct-False Police Report, police announced Thursday. This is a Class 4 Felony and a warrant was obtained for Escamilla's arrest.

Escamilla allegedly called 911 on Tuesday, May 3 and reported a man with a gun in the area of the at Main Street and Randall Road. The 911 description led police to Escamilla, who was determined not to have a gun.

Police discovered that Escamilla apparently "called 911 on himself as a prank," according to a press release issued today.

The Batavia Police Department responded to the 911 call at 12:04 a.m. May 3. The 911 caller provided a description of the person with the gun and the vehicle that the person was apparently using to travel. The called also gave the last known direction of travel.

Police officers located a vehicle matching the description in the 200 block of Lake Street and made contact with Mychal A. Escamilla. It was determined that Escamilla had no gun and officers cleared the call.

After making contact, police found out Escamilla made the call on himself. He was arrested on May 4 and posted $1,000 bond.

Escamilla's initial court date is June 14.
