Police: Batavia Man Charged With Retail Theft at Claire's

A 22-year-old Batavia man is headed to court after police said he took a $10 earring from a Geneva Commons store.

Geneva police arrested Donald Clifton of Batavia on charges of retail theft after an incident at about 4:45 p.m. June 3 at Claire’s, 1534 Commons Drive, reports said.

According to the complaint filed with the 16th Judicial Court, Clifton removed a single cubic zirconium earring that was displayed for sale, then exited the store without paying for the earring. The earring was valued at $9.14.

Clifton has a court date of July 17 at the Kane County Branch Court, 530 S. Randall Road, St. Charles.
