POLICE: 3 Teens Jumped, Knifed at North Aurora Popeye’s

One 15-year-old boy was unable to stand on his own. The teenage suspects were from Aurora, according to police.

One teen boy was beaten and two others were knifed on Friday in an incident outside the North Aurora Popeye's, police said.

Officers at 9:17 p.m. on Friday responded to the Popeye's parking lot, 414 S. Lincolnway, for a report of a large fight.

A 15-year-old DeKalb boy was jumped by an unknown number of subjects, according to a press release. Two other boys, a 16-year-old North Auroran and a 15-year-old DeKalb resident, attempted to help him.

A 14-year-old Aurora boy pulled a knife and cut the 16-year-old on the back and the 15-year-old on the arm, according to police.

The 14-year-old boy with the knife was located and taken into custody near the intersection of Exposition Avenue and Bryant Street in Aurora by officers of the Aurora Police Department, police said.

The Aurora teen was transferred to North Aurora Police custody and transported to the North Aurora Police Department, 200 S. Lincolnway, where he was interviewed and later charged with two counts of Aggravated Battery, both class 3 felonies.

The teen was transported and held at the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center in St. Charles.

During the investigation several subjects were briefly detained for on-scene questioning to determine their involvement. Another male offender, a 16-year-old Auroran, was found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis. He was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, a Class B Misdemeanor.  

The 16-year-old was later released to his parents.

Aftermath

When police arrived, they found the disturbance beginning to disperse in the parking lots of the Popeye's and Denny's restaurants, 412 S. Lincolnway.

The 16-year-old and 15-year-old were holding up the 15-year-old DeKalb resident that was beaten because he was unable to stand on his own.

The three victims were treated by North Aurora Fire Department paramedics for non-life threatening injuries. The victims with knife wounds were transported to Provena Mercy Center Hospital, treated and released.
