OMG PD: ‘Simpsons’ Graffiti, Lil Wayne Music Theft

Here's a round-up of recent, bizarre police report items from the area.

NAPERVILLE

D’oh!

Graffiti based on The Simpsons TV show popped up in June on buildings throughout Naperville, especially in the downtown area, police said. 

The graffiti has been found on businesses, electrical boxes and garbage dumpsters. Police said the graffiti is expensive to remove because it is "extensive" and detailed. See the graffiti and learn more in the full story.

DOWNERS GROVE

Mailbox Baseball Goons

A resident at 9:55 p.m. June 25 reported teens in a large white SUV playing mailbox baseball on the 1300 block of Hawkins. The anonymous caller told a dispatcher the SUV already left the area northbound on Bateman, according to a police report. Officer found one dented mailbox and two more laying in the street. The mailbox owners were contacted and will sign complaints if the offender is located. Each mailbox was valued at $120.

Why Get Arrested for Weezy?

Kody Lee Fitzwilliam, 25, of the 17100 block of Sterling Court, Lockport, was charged on June 25 with retail theft. Fitzwilliam was spotted taking a Lil Wayne CD from its case and placing it in his back left pants pocket in a store on the 3300 block of Finley Road, according to a police report. 

After Fitzwilliam passed the last point of payment and left the store, he was detained and police were dispatched at 7:40 p.m. The $14.99 CD, Lil Wayne's I Am Not a Human Being II, was recovered from Fitzwilliam. He was taken into custody, charged and released on an I-bond with a pending court date.

 

This Isn’t A Taxi

A 47-year-old Western Springs man is headed to court after he entered a woman's car without her permission on the 3500 block of Highland Avenue.

Andrew Glenn Rice, of the 500 block of 41st Street, was charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle. He entered the back seat of a nursing student's car at about 5:45 a.m. June 22 after she was the first one to pull into a small parking lot, according to a police report. The woman was in her car browsing on her cell phone, and her vehicle doors automatically unlocked as soon as she parked.

"She immediately exited her vehicle and began to yell at him to get out," the report said. "He calmly looked at his cell phone and replied that he only wanted to see if she was okay. The male subject then exited her vehicle and casually walked toward another vehicle parked in the lot." Read the full story.

 

CLARENDON HILLS

Giant Turtle Sighting

A giant turtle was reported at 8:22 p.m. June 20 on the street between a house and an apartment complex at Eastern and Park avenues. The turtle was assisted across the street into a creek, according to police.

 

BURR RIDGE

Who’s Making the Noise?

Police responded to a report of someone setting off fireworks on the 8600 block of Dolfor Cv south of Stevens Park at 7:06 p.m. June 13. They also received a report nearby at 9:13 p.m. on June 11 on the 400 block of Parkview Plaza, located on the north side of Stevens Park. In both incidents the area was searched, but no one was found with fireworks.
