OMG PD: Fishy Incident, Yolk-Filled Crime

Here's a round-up of recent, bizarre police report items from the area.

DOWNERS GROVE 

Crime Against Koi

About 15 multi-colored Koi fish were taken from a backyard pond on the 800 block of Maple Avenue. The incident occurred sometime between 8 a.m. July 4 and 10:30 a.m. July 7. All eight of the owner's large Koi fish were gone, as well as about seven baby Koi. The owner has had the Koi pond for about eight years and has never had a fish taken by an animal or person before. The owner did not have any specific suspect information, but she did find an empty beer can by the pond when she returned home on July 7. See the full report.

Iced Coffee Showdown

A 19-year-old male customer got into an argument with a cashier at 5:15 p.m. June 26 on the 1200 block of 75th Street. The man ordered four large iced coffees and was told that he could only get the 99-cents sale price on two of them because that was the limit. The man began yelling at the cashier that it was "f---ing bull----," according to a police report. Read the full report.

ST. CHARLES 

Too Many Miles Already

A 40-year-old resident of the 1600 block of Oak Street reported at 9:34 a.m. July 4 that someone stole his 1994 Honda Accord, with more than 278,000 miles on it, from the street outside his home while it was parked there overnight. While police were speaking with the owner, a second report came in about a parked car blocking a driveway on the 00-99 block of North 17th Street. It was the victim’s missing car. The victim told police a stereo faceplate was missing.

 

CLARENDON HILLS

Lay Off the Fireworks, Will Ya?

A caller at 11:26 p.m. July 4 reported that someone from a party on the 200 block of Holmes Avenue was setting fireworks off in the street. Police notified the party of the complaints and advised the person to stop the fireworks use. Police also advised them of the noise and disorderly conduct ordinances.

 

HINSDALE

Yolk Does Damage

A man reported at 11:43 p.m. July 3 that an unknown group of suspects threw eggs at his home and caused permanent damage on the 700 block of South Lincoln Street, police said. The exterior as well as the foyer sustained damage, the exact cost of which was not known at the time of this report.

 

GLEN ELLYN

Taking Some Cold Ones

Someone stole several bottles of beer from a refrigerator in an unlocked garage on the 700 block of Willis. The incident occurred sometime between 10:30 p.m. June 27 and 12:45 a.m. June 28, police said.

 

NAPERVILLE 

Theft of Champions 

Someone entered a home on the 400 block of Village Green Road and took an autographed picture of Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier. The incident occurred sometime between March 25 and June 5, according to police.

BATAVIA

Independence Day Irony?

The day before Independence Day, Batavia police arrested a 20-year-old Batavia man on charges of unlawful possession of cannabis less than 31 grams. The site of the arrest? Well, on Independence Drive, of course.
