North Aurora Tests New Internet-Based Emergency Notification

Nixle 360 replaces the outdated Reverse 911 system, a hardware-based phone call system that was purchased in 2007.

The village of North Aurora is installing a new emergency notification system that will reach out directly to residents and others who sign up for the service.

And the village will start testing its new Nixle 360 emergency notification system at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3

The test will consist of an automated phone call to all listed and unlisted landline telephone lines in the village.  The message will begin with an introduction by Village President Dale Berman followed by the test message.

The Nixle 360 system is an Internet-based emergency notification system that combines phone calls, emails, and text messages to reach residents and subscribers. The system replaces the Reverse 911 hardware-based phone-call system that was purchased in 2007 and has become outdated.

The new system will be used by all village departments to notify residents and subscribers of urgent or emergency information. Once the new Nixle 360 system is operational, village officials will share information on how to register to receive emails as well as calls and text messages on cellular phone.
