North Aurora Police Will Test Nixle Alert System Tuesday

This is only a test.

But it comes at a time of extreme cold, so just be aware of what's coming in North Aurora.

The village of North Aurora sent a press release Monday informing residents that it will conduct a second test of our new Nixle 360 emergency notification system at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The test will consist of an automated phone call to listed and unlisted AT&T landline telephone lines in the village.

The message will be begin with an introduction by Village President Dale Berman followed by the test message.

Residents who receive their phone service from Comcast will not receive the test call because we’re still in the process of obtaining an emergency phone number database from Comcast.

The Nixle 360 system is an Internet-based emergency notification system that combines phone calls, emails, and text messages to reach residents and subscribers.  The system replaces North Aurora's Reverse 911 system, a hardware based phone call system that was purchased in 2007 and has become outdated.

The new system will be used by all village departments to notify residents and subscribers of urgent or emergency information.

"Once the new Nixle 360 system is operational, we will share information on how to register to receive emails as well as calls and text messages on your cellular phone," North Aurora Deputy Chief Scott Buziecki said in the press release.
