The sheriff’s office said its initial investigation indicates that White was northbound on Nelson Lake Road near the entrance to the Dick Young Forest Preserve. The release states that there was a line of cars that also was northbound, and several of the cars swerved to go around the White’s bicycle, which he was riding on the side of the roadway.

But a northbound 2009 Nissan Rogue, driven by MaMaxima Corazona Cardino Ty, 26, of the 2100 block of Howard Street in Evanston, failed to swerve around the bicycle, striking its rear tire.
