Multiple Crashes on Slippery Roads Monday; 'Scattered Snow' Tuesday

Several accidents, some with injuries, are reported Monday by Tri-Com Dispatch. Upcoming holiday travel conditions could be rough.

Tri-Com Dispatch around 1 p.m. Monday was full of reports of crashes and slippery road conditions.

Within 20 minutes, reports included accidents at:

  • Route 38 and Bricher
  • Randall and Main
  • On Giese Road in Batavia, near Kirk
  • Another accident by Kirk Road and the bicycle bridge in Batavia
  • Accident with injuries at Main and Randall in Batavia
  • Accident with injuries and Dunham and East Main in St. Charles


The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement Monday, asking drivers to "use extra caution on the roadways this afternoon."

The NWS-Chicago outlook for Tuesday is:
  • Scattered snow after 3 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. West wind 5 to 15 mph becoming north northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
  • Tuesday Night — Scattered snow before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16. Wind chill values as low as 1. North northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
