Metra Train Strikes Pedestrian in Lombard

Some trains were canceled Sunday morning after the collision occurred. This is the second time this week that a train has struck a pedestrian in that area.

Two Metra trains on the Union Pacific West line on Sunday were canceled after a train struck a pedestrian near Lombard.

A train on the UP-W line struck a pedestrian at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday near Grace Street in Lombard, according to Metra officials. The pedestrian's condition was not available Sunday afternoon.

One morning inbound and one outbound train were canceled. The outbound train that was to depart Chicago at 10:40 a.m. and arrive to Elburn at 12:06 p.m. did not operate, according to a statement from Metra.

The inbound Metra train scheduled to depart Elburn at 10:25 a.m. Sunday did not operate either.

Outbound trains were scheduled to resume from Chicago at 12:40 p.m. Sunday. Inbound trains were scheduled to leave Elburn at 12:25 p.m. Sunday.

This is the  near Lombard. Police think the 20-year-old female who was struck and killed Wednesday night intended to take her own life.
