2-Car Crash in Batavia Sends 3 Adults to Hospital Tuesday

A female driver received two citations from the incident. Here's what happened.

Two drivers from St. Charles and a passenger were transported to Delnor Hospital earlier Tuesday afternoon after a two-car crash on Batavia's west side, police and fire officials said.

The driver of a Honda CRV sports utility vehicle rear-ended a Toyota Sienna minivan, Police Sgt. Mike Johnson said. and units responded to the crash at 3:20 p.m. on Main Street at Wenmoth Road, said Ed Jancauskas, a Batavia Fire battalion chief.

Police identified Angela Lishamer as the SUV driver. She was cited for:

  • Failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident
  • Having a expired driver's license for less than six months

Traffic became congested on Main Street in the hour immediately following the crash. , located about half-a-mile from the crash site, alerted parents about the traffic and monitored the students until they arrived or buses left.

A male driver in the Toyota Sienna minivan was stopped in traffic eastbound on Main Street. He was waiting to turn left to go northbound on Wenmoth Road, Johnson said.

Lishamer was headed eastbound on Main Street in the Honda CRV and rear-ended the minivan, he said.

The initial call for the crash said there was heavy damage but no injuries. About 10 minutes later, emergency responders indicated that there were injuries but they were not specified.

Lishamer, her male passenger and the male driver of the minivan were transported to Delnor Hospital. The SUV and minivan were towed from the scene, Jancauskas said.
