UPDATE: Woman Transported After Rollover Crash on Main Street in Batavia Sunday

The vehicle went through a fence and snapped a pole, officials said. Here's more info.

One female was taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle rollover crash that snapped a utility pole Sunday on Batavia's west side, officials said.

The incident occurred on Main Street between Feece Drive and Batavia Fire Station 2, said Randy Zies, Batavia Fire battalion chief. Station 2 is located at 1400 Main Street.

One sport-utility or station wagon-type vehicle was involved in the crash. Emergency crews were initially dispatched to the scene at 11:27 a.m. Sunday.

The female complained of some head pain and was taken to Delnor Hospital. She was wearing a seatbelt, Zies said.

"I would estimate maybe 20 yards off the road," Zies said of where the vehicle landed. "It went through the fence, snapped a telephone pole and was on its roof in the field."

Fire crews did not have to break any doors off but still had to physically remove the female, even though she was conscious at the scene.

"We had to get her out of there," Zies said. "She didn't get out on her own power."

Although police and fire crews did not respond to any outages, readers did report lost power in the area. This is likely because ComEd cut the power to the lines when they arrived to secure the downed pole, Zies said.

"It snapped the pole in two," Zies said of the crash. "The pole stayed ... it came down on the ground and stayed upright near the road."

Traffic was blocked on Main Street near the scene of the crash but was reopened at about 1 p.m. Sunday, according to Batavia police.

Further information on how the crash happened was not immediately available. Patch will post an update if more details are released.

There was another crash on Sunday that involved a vehicle striking a utility pole. The second crash occurred outside the Red Oak Nature Center on Route 25 at 2:50 p.m.
