Crash Narrative

The man was north of Kirk and Cherry driving his Suzuki motorcycle southbound on Kirk, according to the County Sheriff's Office.

The man failed to stop, and his motorcycle collided with the semi's trailer. The man was thrown from the motorcycle in the middle of the roadway. The motorcycle continued southbound on Kirk Road without a driver. The cycle finally rolled and stopped about 200 yards south of the Kirk-Cherry intersection and east of Kirk Road.

The motorcycle appeared to be moving at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash, the Sheriff's Office said.

The driver of the semi was not harmed but was shaken by the crash and death of the cyclist. The semi was parked north of the Kirk Road-Cherry Lane intersection after the crash.

The following agencies assisted with the crash response:

  • Kane County Sheriff's Department
  • Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team
  • Geneva Fire Department
  • Illinois State Police
  • Geneva Police (traffic control)
  • (traffic control)

The Kane County Sheriff's Office headed this crash investigation because the Kirk Road-Cherry Lane intersection is unincorporated, Gengler said.
