Geneva Man Charged With Heroin Use in Starbucks Bathroom Seeks Court Rehab
Tyler White was facing charges of Ecstasy possession in Aurora when he was charged with possession of a controlled substance, obstructing justice, possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of drug paraphernalia in June at Starbucks.
The 22-year-old Geneva man who was arrested after reportedly locking himself and another person in a Starbucks bathroom is seeking to move his case to Kane County Drug Rehabilitation Court.
According to an article in the Daily Herald, Tyler White was facing charges of Ecstasy possession in Aurora when he was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, obstructing justice, possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of drug paraphernalia in June at Starbucks in downtown Geneva.
According to previous Geneva police reports, a Starbucks employee flagged down a police officer after a subject locked himself in the bathroom around 8:21 p.m. June 10 inside Starbucks coffeehouse at the corner of Third Street and State Street in downtown Geneva.
Officers found two people in the bathroom and later found a hypodermic needle, a metal spoon and two cotton swabs inside White's right shoe. Police then asked White to remove his socks and found two tin foil packets in White’s right sock.
The Daily Herald story said White was arrested in April 2013 on charges of possessing between 15 and 200 pills of Ecstasy, which alone could earn a charge of between four and 15 years in prison.

White's next court date is Feb. 4.
According to the Kane County Sheriff's website, the mission of the Kane County Drug Rehabilitation Court is to break the connection between alcohol (and other drugs) and related criminal activity.

The court handles cases involving non-violent drug using offenders through an intensive supervision and treatment program.
"The Drug Rehabilitation Court will bring the full weight of all interveners (e.g. the Judge, Probation Officers, Law Enforcement Officers, Prosecutors, Defense Attorneys and Treatment Specialists as well as other social service personnel) to bear, forcing the offender to deal with his or her substance abuse problem or suffer the consequences," Sheriff Pat Perez says on the web page.
