Found Property: Semi Trailer Recovered in Batavia

A semi trailer reported stolen in DuPage County was found at Accuride Distribution Center, 950 N. Raddant Road.

It wasn't all that long ago that Batavia police reports included the odd-sounding occurrence of a 53-foot semi trailer stolen from the parking lot of Party Lite Worldwide Parking lot, 601 Kingland Drive.

It turned out that semi-trailer theft is not nearly as rare as one might think. Batavia Det. Sgt. Shawn Mazza said back in November that there had been maybe a half dozen such reports in 2013.

Now comes the news that what goes around comes around, and Batavia can say that it has found a trailer reported stolen out of DuPage County.

Two other "good news" items involving found property were in this past week's Batavia blotter:

A clerk at the Windmill City Liquors, 101 S. Batavia Ave., told police he found a Visa debit card, according to a report at 12:05 p.m. Dec. 28. Contact was made with the owner, who then came to the Police Department to pick up his property.

Purse Found at TGI Friday's

A purse was turned over to the Batavia Police Department from the manager of TGI Fridays, 490 N. Randall Road, according to a report at 10:35 p.m. Dec. 27. It was determined that the purse belonged to a subject in Elgin, but attempts to contact the subject were unsuccessful.
