'Flashback' Cited in Sept. 19 Accident With Injuries
The following information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Batavia police reported a three-car accident with injuries around 3:30 p.m. Sept. 18 near the intersection of South Kirk Road and East Wilson Street.
According to police reports, the front of a Chevrolet Cruze driven by Marissa Lopez, 23, of Aurora collided with the rear of a Honda Odyssey driven by Rehee Righi, 44, of Geneva, which collided with a Ford F150 driven by Richard Gehelli, 40, of Elgin.
Righi and a 19-year-old passenger, Rebecca Ridhi, were taken to Mercy Hospital by Batavia Medic 51.
Lopez told police she did not know what happened and that “she closed her eyes and had a ‘flashback’ prior to the crash.”
Lopez was charged with driving too fast for conditions and operating an uninsured motor vehicle and has a court date of Oct. 8.
