Firefighter Suffers Minor Injuries During Tuesday Fire; Blaze Causes $220K to St. Charles Home

The fire spread into the house due to 35 mph winds, one official said Tuesday.

Six departments were called Tuesday afternoon to help battle a St. Charles house fire that sent one firefighter to the hospital.

The unnamed firefighter was treated and released from Delnor Hospital after suffering minor injuries while on the scene of the fire, located at 2010 Cambridge Drive.

No one else was injured, said one . People home at the time of the fire were able to leave unharmed.

At 12:37 p.m., firefighters arrived and found a fully-involved front porch fire that extended into the house's first and second floors. A 35 mph wind was pushing the fire inside the house.

Six departments were called for mutual aid due to the severity of the fire. Within one hour, firefighters had the fire under control but remained on scene until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators estimate the damage to the house at $150,000 with an additional $70,000 in damage to the contents.

The cause remains under investigation.
