Fire Damages Deck, House Siding in Batavia on Friday

Damage is estimated at $10,000.

A fire damaged a deck and part of a home on Batavia's east side Friday afternoon, fire officials said.

The fire occurred on the 1300 block of Hall Court. was dispatched to the incident at 4:30 p.m., according to a press release.

Fire crews found a small deck fire that was threatening to damage the house. Neighbors used a garden hose on the house to prevent the fire from extending into the home.

The fire department used hose lines to extinguish the blaze and confirmed that it did not actually enter the house. The fire was reported under control at 4:45 p.m. Friday.

There was an estimated $10,000 in damages done to the deck and siding of the house. No was injured in the incident.

The fire started on the wooden rear deck of the house and might have been caused from a discarded cigarette, Batavia Fire said.

About The Crew

There were a total of 26 personnel at the fire scene. The first unit arrived at 4:35 p.m. Friday and the last unit was cleared at 6:10 p.m., according to a press release.
