Tri-Cities DUI Arrests, Feb. 17
Here's this week's roundup of local drunken driving arrests.
BATAVIA
Feb. 9: Omar Chavez, 21, of the 300 block of Houston Street, Batavia, was cited for the following:
- DUI (two counts)
- Improper lane usage (three counts)
- Operating an uninsured vehicle
Chavez was arrested at 2:40 a.m. in the 100 block of South Batavia Avenue, according to a police report. He was released on an I-bond with a court date of Feb. 27.

Feb. 8: Bradley J. Smith, 27, of the 2900 block of Coastal Drive, Aurora, was cited for the following:
- DUI: Alcohol
- Failure to signal (three counts)
- Disobey traffic control signal
- Disobey stop sign (two counts)
Smith was arrested at 2:02 a.m. on the 200 block of Laurel Street, according to a police report. He posted $100 bond and his driver's license. Smith received a Feb. 27 court date.

Feb. 10: Victor M. Alvarez, 35, of the 1400 block of Golden Oaks Parkway, Aurora, was charged with aggravated DUI and aggravated reckless driving in connection to a car crash on Route 25.
Alvarez (pictured on this page) was driving northbound in a silver Nissan Murano crossover sport-utility vehicle that ran off the west side of the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to a North Aurora police statement.
Police responded at 2:11 p.m. to the crash scene, located about 100 ft. north of Ridge Road. Upon arrival, officers found the Murano with heavy passenger side damage. A passenger in Alvarez’s vehicle, a 39-year-old male of West Chicago, was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, police said. He was in critical condition on Feb. 10. As of Feb. 16, Alvarez still remains in the Kane County Jail on $100,000 bail, according to jail records.
ST. CHARLES
Feb. 8: Kristi Sue Wredling, 54, of the 1600 block of South 16th Avenue, was charged at 10:01 p.m. with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol content greater than .08 and improper lane use after police responded to an accident at Route 31 and Wildrose Springs Drive. According to the police report, Wredling lost control of her pickup, which collided with a Honda Civic. Police said her blood-alcohol content registered .191. She posted her driver’s license and $300 cash bond and was released pending a March 7 court appearance.
