Drug Possession Charges Go With 3 of the 24 DUIs This Week

DUI Roundup: Driving-under-the-influence charges reported during the week prior to Nov. 16 in Patch towns throughout the west suburbs.

BATAVIA

NOV. 11: Batavia police arrested Elena Bickel, 22, of Aurora on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, disobeying a stop sign, according to a report filed at 12:44 a.m. Nov. 11, in the 900 block of Main Street. Bickel also was cited for unlawful possession of cannabis. She has a court date of Dec. 18.

DARIEN

OCT. 25: Peter Wittwer, 43, of the 100 block of Oxford, Clarendon Hills, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash and damaging city property after he was pulled over in the 300 block of Plainfield Road. Wittwer was released and is due on Dec. 3 in Wheaton court.

OCT. 23: Maurice Harris, 23, of the 7400 block of Woodward, Woodridge, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, illegally transporting alcohol, speeding and improper lane use after she was stopped near the intersection of 75th and Adams. Harris was released and is due on Nov. 19 in Wheaton court.

  • Jacob Kowalski, 20, 925 N. East Ave., Oak Park, was arrested and charged with DUI, driving without insurance and consumption of alcohol by a minor after police pulled over his red Saab for improper lane use at Diversey and York at 2:06 a.m. He was released on bond.

  • Sierra Stegall, 20, 214 S. 17th St., Maywood, was arrested and charged with DUI and consumption of alcohol by a minor on the 400 block of West Lake Street at 2:23 a.m. She was released on bond.

NOV. 9: Lori Steinhagan, 55, 4401 Maple, Stickney, was arrested and charged with DUI and possession of cannabis after police pulled over her black Jeep Wrangler for speeding and driving without headlights at North and Route 83 at 12:53 a.m. She was released on bond.

NOV. 8: Leon Hopkins, 35, 1733 E. 84th St., Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI after police responded to a call for a subject passed out behind the wheel of a tan Chevrolet Venture at York and Park at 1:40 a.m. He was released on bond.

NOV. 7: Jose Diaz, 32, 120 S. Lincoln Apt. 2B, Addison, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a license after police pulled over his Nissan Pathfinder for improper lane use at 681 W. North Ave. at 1:24 a.m. He was released on bond.

GENEVA

NOV. 4: Geneva police arrested Mark Lindsay, 28, of Batavia on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or more and making an unsafe lane change around 1:41 a.m. Nov. 4, in the 1200 block of Crissey Avenue, reports said. Lindsay has a court date of Nov. 20 at the Kane County Judicial Center, 37W777 Route 38, St. Charles.

GLEN ELLYN

NOV. 7: Swantall Blue, 29, 1135 N. Leamington, Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI and speeding at Roosevelt and Exmoor at 3:57 a.m.

NOV. 5: Jaime Palos, 37, 1550 S. Blue Island, Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI, possession of a controlled substance, speeding, failure to signal, improper turn at an intersection and driving without insurance at Roosevelt and Royal Glen at 1:27 a.m.

NOV. 4: Christopher D. Freeman, 42, 409 Lawrence Ave., Glen Ellyn, was arrested and charged with DUI, leaving the scene of a property-damage accident and improper turn at an intersection at Lorraine and Hill at 5:56 p.m.

NOV. 3: Shawn R. Easley, 24, 267 Daisy Circle, Romeoville, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to signal at Roosevelt and Main at 1:34 a.m.

NAPERVILLE

Nov. 11: William Patrick Carlson, 56, of Plainfield, was arrested at 3:51 p.m. in the 900 block of Maplefield Road, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond.

Nov. 10:

  • John Steven Burgos, 30, of Orland Park, was arrested at 1:33 a.m. near North Naper Boulevard and West I-88, police said. He was charged with driving on a suspended/revoked license. He posted bond.

  • Todd Thomas Cunningham, 39, of Naperville, was arrested at 2:17 a.m. near South Washington and Redstart Road, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond.

  • Knasi Afriyie, 66, of Oswego, was arrested at 6:56 p.m. in the 800 block of Washington Street, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond.

Nov. 9: Kristin Elizabeth Sherwood, 33, of Yorkville, was arrested at 2:46 p.m. near Raymond Drive and Ferry Road, police said. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. She posted bond.

Nov. 8: Sophia M. Dbila, 24, of Montgomery, was arrested at 1:26 a.m. in the 1700 block of West Ogden Avenue, police said. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. She posted bond.

ST. CHARLES

NOV. 7: Kimberly J. Schweppe, 55, of the 5N800 block of Castle Drive, was charged at 6:26 p.m. on the 3600 block of East Main Street with driving under the influence of alcohol, no insurance, and improper lane use. She posted her driver’s license and and a $100 cash bond and was released pending a Dec. 19, 2013 court appearance.

WHEATON

NOV. 4: Robert J. Stahl, 34, of the 1500 block of Pleasant Place, Ottawa, was arrested at 9:07 p.m. at 520 E. Roosevelt Road on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond and was released.

NOV. 3: Jack A. Pietrus, 24, of the 1600 block of County Farm Road, Wheaton, was arrested at 9:59 p.m. at Main Street and Roosevelt Road on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. He posted bond and was released.

WOODRIDGE

NOV. 6: Rosalia Espino, 35, of the 500 block of Preston Drive, Bolingbrook, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, illegally transporting alcohol, improper lane use and failing to use a signal following a traffic stop at about 8:37 p.m. in the 8300 block of 83rd Street, Woodridge.
