A man said a laser beam appeared about a dozen times inside his vehicle at about 5:30 p.m. while he was driving on Belmont Road. The beam appeared to be coming from a silver 2005 Pontiac, which was driven by Fierke. At one point, the beam hit his inside rearview mirror, bounced and hit the man in his right eye. The man contacted police and an officer caught up to him and Fierke on Belmont near the railroad tracks.

The man said the vision in his right eye was blurry, but he declined medical attention and planned to follow up with his eye doctor later. He wished to sign a complaint for the incident.

The officer went to Fierke's vehicle and saw a small package for a laser on the passenger front seat. Fierke was told about the complaint and asked what happened. After a brief conversation, the officer told Fierke he was under arrest. He was booked, charged and has a May 14 court date in Downers Grove.
