UPDATED-Cannabis Tales: Juveniles in Batavia Park With Grams, Teen's Traffic Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Editor's note: This post was updated in the early afternoon with all the incident reports that were released for Dec. 29. Those additional reports are under the bold heading after the first two incidents below.

Batavia police officers responded to the following cannabis-related incidents in town on Dec. 29 and early-morning Dec. 30:

Dec. 29

6:28 p.m.—Poss. of Cannabis Less Than 31g

Two juveniles were involved with possession of cannabis, less than 31 grams, at a park on the city's southwest side.

The incident occurred at Hawks Bluff Park, 950 Twin Elms Lane, located on the Tanglewood Hills Property.

The juveniles were each charged, processed and released to parents.

Dec. 30

12:42 a.m.—Traffic Arrest

A 19-year-old Batavia man is headed to court after an incident downtown.

James K. Boyne, of the 600 block of Lusted Lane, was issued a complaint for possession of cannabis, less than 2.5 grams. The incident occurred on the 300 block of West Wilson Street.

He was issued a Notice to Appear with a court date of Jan. 17.

Here's what else police responded to on Dec. 29. The events are listed in chronological order:

5:24 a.m.—Assist Other Agency 

The Batavia Police Department provided traffic assistance on the Fabyan Parkway Bridge. Morning road conditions were icy on this date. 

5:28 a.m.—Accidental Damage to City Property

Damage was reported on the bridge. Further information was not available on this incident.

5:44 a.m.—Car Crash: Personal Injury

Two subjects were involved in a car crash at 1600 E. Fabyan Parkway northeast of the city.

The people were transported to Delnor Hospital.

6:37 a.m.—Assist Other Agency

A 46-year-old Aurora man was taken back to his city to face charges.

Tommy J. Rayford, of the 1000 block of LeGrande Drive, Aurora, was taken into custody. The incident occurred at Papermill Hill and Barkei drives on the city's east side.

Rayford was transported to the Aurora Police Department.

8:05 a.m.—Car Crash: Property Damage

Two vehicles were involved in a car crash on the city's west side.

The incident occurred in a Lorlyn of Batavia Apartments parking lot at 1056 Lorlyn Circle, according to a police report.

No citations were issued.

8:42 a.m.—Car Crash: Property Damage

A driver from Aurora was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident on the city's east side.

The incident happened at Kirk Road and Hubbard Avenue.

8:55 a.m.—Car Crash: Property Damage

A driver from Montgomery apparently failed to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to a police report.

The incident happened at Randall Road and Fabyan Parkway. A warning was issued.

12:13 p.m.—Unlawful Visit Interference (Desk Report)

Two subjects were involved in an unlawful visit. Further information was not available.

12:42 p.m.—Car Crash: Property Damage

A car crash was reported in a parking lot on the 400 block of North Randall Road.

No citations were issued.

12:57 p.m.—Hit-and-Run: Property Damage

An unknown driver did a hit-and-run on the city's west side.

The person hit a parked, unoccupied vehicle in the Batavia Wal Mart parking lot, 801 N. Randall Road.

1:17 p.m.—Car Crash: Property Damage

A driver from Des Plaines was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident on the city's west side.

The incident happened on Randall Road and McKee Street.

5:04 p.m.—Criminal Trespassing-State Property

A juvenile was taken into custody at the Batavia Skate Park, 411 S. River St., according to a police report.

The juvenile was processed and released to a parent.

8:23 p.m.—Harassment (Desk Report)

A subject reported unwanted/nuisance texts on the 1300 block of Halladay Drive on the city's west side.

9:09 p.m.—Traffic Arrest

A 35-year-old Aurora man is headed to court after an incident on the city's east side.

Paul M. Sanchez, of the 100 block of North Sumner Avenue, was cited for the following:

  • Speeding
  • Driving While License Suspended
  • Operating an Uninsured Vehicle

This incident occurred on Kirk Road south of East Wilson Street. Sanchez posted $200 bond and was released with a court date of Feb. 14.

11:32 p.m.—Car Crash: Property Damage

Two vehicles were involved in a car crash at Randall Road and McKee Street.

Further information was not available at the time of the report.
