Cannabis Tales: Batavia Teen Accused of Possession on West Side

The following arrest information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Batavia police officers responded to the following incidents on Jan. 31:

3:37 p.m.—Poss. of Cannabis Less Than 31g

One Batavia teen and one Aurora teen, both 19, are headed to court after an incident on the city's west side.

James K. Boyne, of the 600 block of Lusted Lane and Cody A. Lewis, of the 3100 block of River Birch Drive in Aurora, were allegedly involved with possession of cannabis, less than 31 grams. The incident occurred on the 1500 block of Richter Drive, according to a police report. Boyne and Lewis were in a vehicle.

Boyne and Lewis were each issued Notice to Appear complaints. They each have a court date of Feb. 14.

Here are the other reported incidents, in chronological order:

5:27 a.m.—Traffic Arrest

A 22-year-old Aurora woman is headed to court after an incident on the east side.

Maria J. Madrigal, of the 400 block of Pennsylvania Ave., Aurora, was cited for the following:

  • Driving while license suspended
  • Operating an uninsured vehicle
  • Disobeying a traffic control device

The incident occurred at East Wilson Street and Washington Avenue, according to a police report.

Madrigal was released on personal recognizance. She has a court date of Feb. 21.

8:36 a.m.—Theft Over $500

A City of Batavia well was vandalized on the west side.

A circular cast iron lid with an inner lid was removed from Well #11 at the 0S600 block of Wenmouth Road, according to a police report.

The crime was thought to have occurred over the Jan. 28-29 weekend. The lid is valued at $579.

10:24 a.m.—Theft Under $500

Prescription medication valued at $50 was taken from an address on the 100 block of Church Street.

Further information on this incident was not available.

5:58 p.m.—Theft Under $500

A snow blower was taken from a driveway on the city's east side.

The incident occurred sometime between 7:30 a.m. and just before 6 p.m. Jan. 31, according to a police report. The snow blower was removed from outside a residence on the 600 block of North Van Buren Street.

The snow blower is valued at $300.

7:41 p.m.—Traffic Arrest

A 24-year-old West Chicago man is headed to court after an incident in downtown Batavia.

Jose F. Oviedo-Carrillo, of the 200 block of Oak Street, West Chicago, was cited for no valid drivers license and operating an uninsured vehicle. He also received a warning notice for improper lighting with one headlamp. The incident happened on the 0-99 block of South Batavia Avenue.

Oviedo-Carrillo was released on signature and has a court date of Feb. 14.

9:10 p.m.—Warrant Service

A 19-year-old St. Charles woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant at the Batavia Police Department.

The warrant was for Joanna R. Fecteau, of the 1200 block of Ronzheimer Avenue in St. Charles, and involved retail theft of display merchandise worth less than $300.

Fecteau's bond was set at $3,000. She was transported to the Kane County Jail and awaited bond call. Fecteau was taken into custody from the St. Charles police for an incident involving synthetic marijuana. To read more about this incident, click .

10:37 p.m.—Unwanted Subject

A subject was advised to leave a business on the 0-99 block of North Randall Road.

The subject's membership to the business was found to be delinquent, according to a police report.
