Cannabis Tales: Batavia School Finds Drug Seeds In Envelope

The seeds reportedly cost $500, according to a Batavia Police report. Here's how they got into the school.

Police responded to a report of drug items at a Batavia school last Monday, but this wasn’t a typical case.

A envelope with cannabis seeds was opened on Nov. 28 at , 800 N. Prairie St. An officer was dispatched to the situation at 3:02 p.m. that day, according to a police report.

The envelope had a plastic sleeve containing the seeds, according to the report. The envelope was not addressed to the school, but was mistakenly delivered there.

A person at the school apparently did not notice the different address, and opened the envelope like any other school correspondence. That’s when the seeds were discovered.

The items were determined to be cannabis seeds ordered online from Canada. Someone paid $500 for the seeds, according to paperwork included in the envelope.

This incident was labeled as “Criminal Drug Conspiracy” in the police report. The report did not indicate which address the seeds were originally supposed to go to.
