Man Dies in Campton Township Crash Thursday, Two Passengers Injured

The man's car left the road and struck a tree, police said. Sheriff's deputies haven't determined whether alcohol played a role in the crash.

A 24-year-old man is dead after a midnight crash in unincorporated Campton Township, police said.

Dustin Jordan of Hoffman Estates was driving a 2007 Nissan Altima that struck a tree north of Empire Road west of Kings Wood Road, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office. The crash occurred at about 12:05 a.m. Thursday.

The Altima was traveling at a high rate of speed and went off Empire Road for an unknown reason, according to initial investigation findings.

Jordan's two passengers were injured and required transport to different hospitals. Eric Wiechart, 24, of Carol Stream was the front-seat passenger. Wiechart was airlifted by Life Star to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with potential life-threatening injuries, a Sheriff's Office press release said.

The rear-seat passenger, Vetalik Lord, 25, of St. Charles, was transported to Delnor Hospital with minor injuries.

Kane County Sheriff’s Detectives and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team continue to investigate the incident, and do not know if alcohol played a role in the crash. 

Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by Campton Hills Police and the Kane County Office of Emergency Management at the scene.

Two Fatal Crashes This Week

This is the second fatal traffic crash in county jurisdiction over a 36-hour period. At 7 a.m. on Wednesday, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office responded to a in Geneva Township.
