An Associated Press report in the DeKalb Daily Chronicles says students living on campus were being relocated to a nearby elementary school.

A noon update posted on the university's website says only that "the APD search of campus is continuing, more details will be provided later today."

According to the Daily Herald, Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said the search and evacutation started as early as 8 a.m. today (Wednesday, March 20, 2013.)

Dan Ferrelli, Aurora police spokesman, said the school received more than one threat, and that police spent most of the morning searching the campus, the report said.

"The university has received a generic bomb threat that we are treating as real,” said a statement on the school’s website. "Classes for the day and evening are cancelled and employees are dismissed. Residential students will be relocated to Freeman Elementary. We will send hourly updates to the campus community."

The fate of evening events at the university are still undetermined.

Many students from Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles attend the school.
