Farreys' Surviving Son Returns to El Paso Under Foster Care

The toddler whose little brother was buried in a New Mexico desert is being returned to Texas child-care authorities, KFOX14 TV in El Paso reports.

Blake Farrey had been in the custody of Michigan’s Child Protective Services since his parents, Jeffrey and Jenna Farrey, formerly of St. Charles, were arrested in Escanaba, MI.

A release obtained from Michigan Child Protective Services by KFOX14 TV states:

“Blake Farrey is being transferred from Michigan foster care to Texas foster care. We have no exact time frame when this will happen.

“Our primary concern will be the safety and welfare of this child,” the statement continued. “We'll ensure he's seeing a pediatrician and receiving any necessary therapy. As with any CPS foster care case, we will also be seeking an appropriate relative placement.”

Jeffrey Farrey, 22, an Army specialist stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, and his wife, Jenna Farrey, 20, were arrested shortly after they were found in an Escanaba, Mich., hotel, and both since have been returned to Texas.

The body of their 5-month-old son Jackson was found Nov. 20, buried in the desert at Orogrande, NM, about 30 miles from the couple’s home. Authorities now believe the infant had died as long as a month before his body was unearthed by authorities. A cause of death has yet to be determined.

Jeffrey Farrey is charged with injury to a child by omission; Jenna Farrey is being held on a fugitive warrant for violating the terms of her probation by leaving Texas. Both are being held in the El Paso County Jail.
