Batavia West Fire Station Open House Held Sunday

Come explore the west side fire station at 1400 Main St. Enjoy food, demonstrations and your friendly neighborhood firefighters.

As part of their Fire Prevention Month activities, firefighters from the will be on hand to welcome the public into the west side fire station from noon to 3 p.m. today, Sunday, Oct. 2.

The west side fire station is located at 1400 Main St., south of Bulldog Stadium and .

Hot dogs and refreshments will be served during the event.

Open house activities include:

  • fire station and vehicle tours
  • safety info presented by the fire department and several other safety partners
  • numerous demonstrations, including a visit from the LifeStar medical helicopter and a residential fire sprinkler demonstration, sponsored by the Northern Illinois Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board

Each year the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and local fire departments support a special theme aimed at keeping residents safe. This year’s theme is “It’s Fire Prevention Week. Protect your Family from Fire!”

This year’s campaign focuses on preventing the leading causes of home fires:

  • cooking
  • heating
  • electrical equipment
  • candles and smoking materials

Additionally, it urges people to protect their homes and families with life-saving technology and planning.
