Batavia Traffic Stops Result in Arrests for Possession of Cannabis, Controlled Substance

The following information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Traffic stops in Batavia resulted in several arrests for cannabis possession, driving under the influence and violations of the Controlled Substances Act.

Traffic Arrest, Controlled Substance, DUI—Nicholas R. Neubauer, 29, of Batavia was cited for improper lane usage, driving without lights when required, possession of a controlled substance and DUI after a traffic stop at around 2:12 a.m. March 29 at 336 E. Wilson St., reports said. Neubauer was unable to post bond and was transported to the Kane County Jail for bond call. A passenger, Bradley J. Smith, 27, of Aurora was cited for letting a subject under the influence of drugs/alcohol drive a motor vehicle. Neubauer was released and has a court date of April 16.

Traffic Arrest, Cannabis—Sarah L. Contreras, 27, of West Chicago, was cited around 12:54 p.m. March 29 in the 900 block of South Kirk Road for having only one red tail light, unlawful possession of cannabis, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released with a court date of April 15.

Traffic Arrest, Cannabis, DUI—Batavia police arrested Duncan M. Powers, 21, of Elburn on charges of possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI and improper lane usage following a traffic stop around 1:50 a.m. March 23 in the 100 block of First Street, reports said. Powers was released after submitting his driver’s license for bond and has a court date of April 24.

Possession of Cannabis Less than 10 grams—Batavia police arrested Matthew J. Simon, 27, of Batavia and Adam C. Benner, 22, of Batavia on charges of unlawful possession of cannabis less than 10 grams and more than 2.5 grams at the Full Moon Bar, 113 S. Batavia Ave., around 10:33 p.m. March 21, reports said. Both were released and have a court date of May 14, reports said.

Taffic arrest, Cannabis—Batavia police arrested Albert A. Estremera, 23, of Montgomery on charges of speeding and possession of cannabis between 2.5 and 10 grams after a traffic stop around 2:09 a.m. March 22 at Kirk and E. Wilson Street, reports said. Estremera has a court date of April 16.

Unlawful Possession of Drug Parapernalia—Bradley T. Cowans, 23, of Batavia was picked up around 7:35 p.m. March 18, for an outstanding warrant for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He posted $675 and has a court date of April 9.
