Batavia Thefts: Someone Steals American Flag, Stop Sign

The following information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Here's a round up of thefts in Batavia.

Flag and Flagpole Stolen

Someone took an American flag and flag pole valued at $30 from the 200 block of North Water Street, according to a report filed around 8:37 a.m. June 23.

IPod and Cellphone Taken

Someone took an iPod and cell phone left outside near the sidewalk in the 300 block of Houston Street, according to a report filed at 7:21 p.m. June 19. The victims were ages 11 and 8.

Digital Camera Taken From Residence

Someone took a Cannon Powershot digital camera from a residence in the 100 block of North Dixon Drive, according to a report filed around 11::33 p.m. June 19, reports said. The camera’s estimated value is $180.

Stop Doing This

Someone took a stop sign from the intersection of South Van Buren and Webster Street, according to a report filed around 7:36 a.m. June 18, reports said.

Cellphone Left at Taco Bell

Someone reported that they left a cellphone after dining at the Taco Bell/Pizza Hut restaurant, 134 S. Randall Road, according to a report filed around 3:24 p.m. June 18. The phone was valued at $130.

Display Merchandise Taken

Police arrested Jeremiah Benjamin, 21, of Aurora on charges of retail theft of display merchandise valued at less than $300, according to a report filed at 7:43 p.m. June 18. The report says he was “previously convicted.” He was transported to Kane County Jail and was awaiting bond call at the time the report was filed.
