Batavia Teachers on Top: Books vs. Badges 2012 Photos

The teachers take the trophy again!

The educators from emerged victorious for the second year in a row at the 3rd annual . The event was held Sunday night at , 1201 Main St.

Both teams played their hearts out, but the Books team got the upper hand with several three-pointers throughout the matchup. The Badges team was made up of members of the , and Batavia Emergency Services.

The game was not the only entertainment of the evening. There was a costume-filled dodgeball game with taking on Kluber Inc.

There was also music and rah-rahs throughout from the , and Youth Cheer Team.

This event is solely to raise money for a local cause. Proceeds go towards the Batavia 4th of July Fireworks Fund. To contribute to the fund, learn about their other fundraisers or to volunteer, visit bataviafireworks.org.

The teams also paused to recognize a former Badges player that is no longer with us. passed away on Aug. 12 after a courageous battle with cancer. Kloese was honored with a moment of silence at the beginning of the game, led by police/fire chaplain Father Mike Rasicci, said Christine Potthoff.

Kloese's wife Amy was at the game, as well as his cousin Kari Kraus, education director at Water Street Studios.
