Batavia Police: Theft, Criminal Damage, Car Crashes

Here are some recent Batavia police reports.

Batavia Police responded to the following incidents in town on Oct. 28 and 29. Here they are in chronological order:

Oct. 28

6:23 a.m.—Car Crash: Property Damage

A car crash was reported at Fabyan Parkway and Western Avenue. A driver from Big Rock was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

11:30 a.m.—Criminal Damage to Property

An unknown offender or offenders spray painted a speed sign on the city's east side to show 80 miles per hour.

The sign is located at Hart Road and Bond Drive.

The City Street Department was contacted about the incident.

3:05 p.m.—Other Traffic Offense

A driver received a citation for a traffic incident on the city's west side.

The citation was for Unlawful Passing of a School Bus—Loading or Unloading Passengers on the 700 block of Millview.

7:22 p.m.—Car Crash: Property Damage

A car crash was reported in the parking lot of 1251 Kingsland Drive on the east side.

No citations were issued.

Oct. 29

6:23 a.m.—Hit-and-Run Crash: Property Damage

A hit-and-run occurred at the Batavia 7-Eleven, 336 E. Wilson Street. Further information was not available at the time of this report.

12 p.m.—Theft

A victim reported a theft of items worth hundreds of dollars on the city's west side.

The victim reported that sometime within the last six months an unknown offender or offenders took two rings—a gold wedding band and a gold ring with an emerald and two diamond chips. The incident happened on the 800 block of Carlisle Road.

The estimated value for both items is $900, according to a police report. The report did not specify whether the victim had recently discovered the items missing.

An investigation is pending.

2:25 p.m.—Car Crash: Property Damage

A car crash occurred on Main Street near , possibly at Main Street and Millview Drive.

Further information was not available at the time of the report.

4:13 p.m.—Found Property

A boys X-Games bicycle was found on the 700 block of North River Street.

The bike was transported to the police department.

11 p.m.—Car Crash: Personal Injury

A Batavia driver was cited for improper lane usage on the city's east side.

The driver refused to go to the hospital after the crash, which occurred at Pine Street and Hart Road.
