Batavia Police: Sex Offender Registration, Stray Dog, Library DVDs Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Batavia police officers responded to the following incidents in town on Dec. 4 and 5. Here they are in chronological order:

Dec. 4

9:14 a.m.—Theft Under $500

Someone's phone was stolen while at Funway, 1335 S. River St.

The phone is valued at $100, according to a police report.

3:02 p.m.—Stray Dog

A tan female Chihuahua was reported loose on the city's west side.

The canine was found in the area of Green Meadows Apartments, 1187 W. Wilson St.

Kane County Animal Control responded to the Police Department and took custody of the dog.

5:37 p.m.—Domestic Battery

A couple on the city's west side fought over the complainant picking up their son, the gathering of belongings and ending the relationship.

The incident, which occurred on the 1100 block of Landfield Road, was referred to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office, according to a police report.

11:37 p.m.—Criminal Damage to Property

A responding officer observed property damage on the city's west side.

There was a spray-painted baby bottle on the driver's side of a delivery truck on the 300 block of North Randall Road.

The keyholder was notified of the damage, according to a police report.

Dec. 5

2:42 a.m.—Open Door

A responding officer observed an unsecured door of a business on the city's west side.

There were no signs of criminal activity at the business, located on the 800 block of North Randall Road.

The keyholder was notified of the incident, according to a police report.

7:24 a.m.—Assist Fire Dept

Batavia Police assisted the during a call for service on the city's north side.

A subject was transported to Delnor Hospital from the 500 block of North Batavia Avenue. Further information was not available on this incident.

9:22 a.m.—Library Theft

The Batavia Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave., reported 32 DVDs that were rented in September were never returned.

The DVDs are valued at a total of $905, according to a police report.

9:47 a.m.—Sex Offender Registration

A 61-year-old Batavia man listed as a suspect/offender updated his address and employment information.

The man was listed at an address on the 900 block of North Washington Avenue.

2:31 p.m.—Keep the Peace

A responding officer stood by while a complainant gathered belongings without incident on the city's northwest side.

The incident occurred on the 600 block of Sennett Street. No further information was available on this event.

4:30 p.m.—Retail Theft

An unknown offender took a product worth $730 from a business on the city's west side.

A Craftsman Snow Thrower was reported stolen at the Sears Appliances & Hardware store, 3 N. Randall Road, according to a police report.

6:11 p.m.—Domestic Battery

Police responded to an argument over a son not wanting to go on vacation on the city's west side.

A victim on the 600 block of Carlisle Road received some scratches on his or her arms, according to a police report.

The responding officer transported the son to the father's residence.

9:30 p.m.—Burglary to Motor Vehicle (Desk Report)

A locked vehicle in a garage was burglarized on the city's east side.

A Garmin GPS unit, a Samsung Android phone and a car charger were taken from a car on the 700 block of Ekman Drive, according to a police report.

The total value of the items is $1,050.

8:54 p.m.—Warrant Service

A 21-year-old Aurora man was sent to jail on an outstanding warrant.

Michael A. Morris, 383 Old Indian Trail, had a Batavia Police Department warrant for criminal damage to property.

Morris was transported to the Kane County Jail.
