Batavia Police Blotter: Missing Firearms, Pop Machine Tipped, Rowdy Bikers

FRIDAY, JULY 27

Machine Goes P(l)op

A Batavia resident reported at 10:30 p.m. that the pop machine outside the , 155 Houston St., had been knocked over on its side.

The extent of the damage is unknown at the time of this report. A message was left for Park District personnel.

Three Missing Firearms

Three firearms valued at $1,900 were among the many items missing after a residential burglary on the east side.

A woman returned home from work to find the firearms missing at 9:20 p.m., according to a police report. The weapons belong to her brother, who is currently serving in the U.S. Army.

The woman also noticed the following items were missing:

  • A silver necklace
  • A gold ring
  • Two silver-plated pink sapphire rings
  • A set of golf clubs
  • A five-gallon Shopvac
  • An unknown number of DVDs
  • A Motorola Touch screen device
  • A man's mountain bike

The estimated value of the items listed was not known at the time of this report.

Conflicting Reports

A car crash occurred at Fabyan and Randall road at 4:27 p.m., according to a police report. The vehicles were moved prior to the reporting officer’s arrival.

Due to conflicting reports, no citations were issued. There was minor vehicle damage and no injuries.

Fraud from Minnesota

An Elburn woman reported an incident of fraud at 3:28 p.m. from a business on the 1900 block of West Fabyan Parkway.

The woman said someone cashed a check electronically from her account at a Walgreens in Richfield, MN, in the amount of $152.

Driver vs. Five Bikers

A two-vehicle crash involving a distracted driver was reported at 3:07 p.m. on Batavia's west side.

A Sugar Grove man was distracted at Fabyan Parkway and Viking Drive when five bikers on motorcycles pulled alongside of his vehicle and began yelling at him, according to a police report.

The driver failed to stop and struck another vehicle. No citations were issued due to the circumstances.

ALDI Warehouse Theft

A theft was reported at 1:13 p.m. at the ALDI Warehouse, 1200 N. Kirk Rd. The full report was not yet completed.

A Blue Bike

A man reported at 10:39 a.m. that a blue men’s bike of an unknown make was left on his property in the 300 block of South Batavia Avenue for the past week.

The bike was transported to the police department.

There was also over $47,000 worth of materials reported stolen from C & F Forge in Batavia over the course of three days. To read more about this, .
